Package 2: The Worselman Tale

Aunt and Uncle Worselman live in their hovel, the smallest house in Gloaming, with their nieces Willow and Winifred. The girls have lived with their aunt and uncle ever since their parents were taken away for Safe Keeping five years ago.

The Worselmans spend their time growing and harvesting potatoes on their smallholding. It’s hard work, and they’re not very good at farming so they often go hungry. Which is particularly frustrating for Winifred and Willow because they know that their Uncle Titus’ special talent allows him to grow pretty much any plant with ease. They think it’s stupid that their aunt and uncle wont even let them use their talent for maths to calculate how many potato plants they need to grow to have enough to eat each year. Sometimes they get angry and cause a row - but their Aunt Jude, who has a talent for peacemaking, always knows how to calm things down (even though she’s not supposed to use her talent either!).

This week, enjoy ‘digging’ in to the Worselman story - and don’t forget to share your creations on social media with the tag #CautionaryTaleMusical.

Please remember that the workshop materials that appear on this website were still in development when published, so they shouldn’t be taken as finished works. Cautionary Tale is a show about finding hope and spreading joy when all seems lost.  We’ve lost our chance, for the time being,  to work on developing the show as we had planned but we’d still like to share the joy. For a limited time, we’re sharing extracts from the score, lyrics, script, choreography and design of Cautionary Tale here so you can get a flavour of this show by reading, rehearsing and performing some of it in your own home. These works are copyright and the use of the materials posted here is strictly for personal, non-commercial use.   Once we are ready to go back into production these resources will be removed.
